Manchester United suffered yet another damaging defeat on Sunday as they were beaten 3-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

The Seagulls took the lead early on courtesy of Yankuba Minteh, before Bruno Fernandes equalised from the penalty spot.

The visitors then regained the lead through Karou Mitoma after the break, before Georgina Rutter added a third to secure all three points for the visitors.

Defeat leaves the Red Devils 13th in the Premier League table after 22 matches, and Ruben Amorim’s side are in serious danger of failing to qualify for European football next term.

Off the pitch, it appears that one of United’s fringe players could soon be on his way out of the club.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, winger Antony is closing in on a deal to join Spanish side Real Betis on loan.

He claims that both clubs and the player himself are of the view that the winger’s substitute appearance against Brighton on Saturday was likely his last for the Red Devils this season.

Antony is set to join Real Betis on loan

Antony, 24, is expected to join Betis on loan for the remainder of the current campaign, with the deal set to be finalised imminently.

The Brazilian joined United from Dutch side Ajax in 2022 but has since endured a frustrating spell in Manchester.

Antony has played 96 times for United across all competitions, but has scored just 12 goals and provided only five assists during that time.

The Brazil international has been heavily criticised for his performances ever since arriving in England, and it appears that he will now be sent out on loan in an effort to rediscover his best form.

Antony primarily operates on the right flank but the recent good form of Amad Diallo has seen the former Ajax man fall down the pecking order since Amorim’s arrival.
