Manchester United full-back Guillermo Varela is reportedly set to make a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Kicker (in German).

The Uruguayan right-back has been told that he can leave the Red Devils this summer by new manager Jose Mourinho and would join the German outfit on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the campaign.

Mourinho is understood to be keen to offload a number of players as he looks to fund a world-record £100 million move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, and Varela could be one of eight players to depart Old Trafford over the coming weeks, with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Juan Mata among the other stars linked with exits.

The 23-year-old, who became the first player to be signed by former United boss David Moyes in 2013, made 11 appearances in all competitions for the club last term, including the 3-2 defeat to Frankfurt’s Bundesliga rivals, Wolfsburg, in the Champions League.
