Manchester United continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Red Devils have so far beaten both Leeds United and French side Lyon this summer, but Erik ten Hag’s side will face their toughest test yet when they come up against the Gunners in New York.

United have already signed both Mason Mount and Andre Onana this summer, but it now appears that the Manchester outfit could be looking to sign another star.

According to 90min, United are in talks with Italian side Fiorentina over a potential move for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The report claims that Ten Hag is looking to bolster his midfield options, despite Mount’s recent arrival, and is therefore exploring the possibility of signing Amrabat.

Amrabat is a target for Manchester United this summer

Amrabat, 26, has been in fine form for the Serie A side over the past couple of seasons and is now attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Last year, the midfielder played a key role in helping Morocco to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, and he was then linked with a move away form Tuscany during the January transfer window.

The Moroccan joined Fiorentina from fellow Italian side Hellas Verona back in 2020 and has since made a total of 107 appearances for his current club across all competitions.

The report claims that Spanish side Atletico Madrid have also spoken to Amrabat’s representatives about the prospect of a deal.

Liverpool and West Ham United have also expressed an interest, the report claims, but neither the Reds nor the Hammers have taken their interest any further at present.

It is also claimed that the player would cost around £26 million this summer, with Fiorentina willing to allow Amrabat to leave as he is currently in the final year of his contract.

United are willing to listen to offers for current midfielders Fred and Scott McTominay this summer, the report claims, which could leave Ten Hag relatively short of options in midfield.
