Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping to see his side improve when domestic football returns after the international break.

The Red Devils have started the new season slowly, winning just four of their eight Premier League games and also losing the opening two matches of their Champions League group stage campaign.

At present, Erik ten Hag’s side sit tenth in the league table after a 2-1 win against Brentford last time out.

The Bees looked set for an impressive victory at Old Trafford, before substitute Scott McTominay netted twice in added time to earn United a crucial victory.

With his side struggling, it appears that Ten Hag is already looking ahead to next summer’s transfer window.

As per Football Insider, United are interested in RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda.

Openda has attracted interest from clubs including Manchester United

The 23-year-old joined Leipzig from French side Lens over the summer and has started the new season in fine form, netting four times in seven Bundesliga matches so far, as well as providing two assists.

Openda was also prolific in France, scoring 21 times in 42 games for Lens across all competitions before securing his move to Germany.

The report claims that United are keeping tabs on the Belgian and could make a move for him at the end of the current season.

Having only signed the striker this summer, Leipzig are said to be unwilling to allow him to leave in January, however the report claims that their stance hasn’t deterred United’s interest.

United did sign fellow forward Rasmus Hojlund from Italian side Atalanta during the recent transfer window, but it appears that those in charge of the club are still hoping to bolster Ten Hag’s attacking options next summer.

As well as the Red Devils, both Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing Openda, who is contracted to Leipzig until the summer of 2028.
