Manchester United travel to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The Red Devils are on fine form at present having lifted the Carabao Cup last Sunday and followed it up with a 3-1 win over West ham United in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Erik ten Hag’s side have also been impressive in the Premier League, losing just one of their last 11 games in the competition to leave them third in the table.

Now, it appears that United are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next term.

According to The Daily Mail, The Red Devils have joined Arsenal and Chelsea in showing an interest in Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia.

The report claims that the 19-year-old, who joined The Saints from Manchester City’s youth academy last summer, is set to be the subject of significant interest when the window reopens this summer.

The teenager signed a five-year-deal when he moved to the south coast last summer, but Southampton appear to already be facing a battle to keep hold of him.

Lavia has impressed during his first season in the Premier League

Since making his debut for Southampton against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the season, the midfielder has made taken his tally of appearances to 20.

It is claimed that the Belgian midfielder is a target for Chelsea this summer as The Blues look to add at least one central midfielder to their squad.

Owner Todd Boehly allowed Jorginho to leave back in January, and N’Golo Kante’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Despite their reported interest in Lavia, United are said to still be keeping tabs on both Declan Rice and Frenkie De Jong, as well as Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.

It remains to be seen whether or not Southampton will be willing to let Lavia leave this summer.
