Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to land former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra this summer, according to Foot Mercato (via Talksport).

The 13-time Premier League champions, who face AFC Bournemouth on the final day of the season (Sunday) at Old Trafford, needing all three points to have any chance of beating rivals Manchester City to a top four finish and subsequent qualification for Champions League football, want to lure the Marseille midfielder back to English football.

The 31-year-old, who has 33 international caps for his country and has been included in France’s squad for EURO 2016 later this year in his homeland, has scored one goal and provided one assist in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit this season.

Diarra, who has previously enjoyed spells in England with Arsenal, Chelsea and League Two Portsmouth, has performed outstandingly this term following his free transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow back in July 2015.

Therefore United are now pursuing the defensive midfielder’s services ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign, although they face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
