Manchester United remain in contention to complete an unprecedented quadruple this season following a 3-1 win over West Ham United in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday.

Goals from Wout Weghorst, Alejandro Garnacho and Fred ensured The Red Devils progressed into the quarter-finals at the expense of The Hammers, who had gone ahead at Old Trafford through Said Benrahma.

Erik ten Hag’s side lifted the Carabao Cup on Sunday courtesy of a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Wembley, and they face Spanish side Real Betis in the last 16 of the Europa League in the coming weeks.

Now, it appears that there may be more good news on the horizon for the Dutchman, as one of his star players is said to be keen on the idea of staying put at the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, goalkeeper David de Gea is intent on extending his stay at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard, who joined United from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, is set to be out of contract at the end of the current season.

De Gea is in line for a new deal at Manchester United

The star’s contract was initially set to expire last summer, but United triggered a clause that extended the deal by a further 12 months.

According to Romano, talks between the player’s representatives and the club are ongoing, although an agreement looks likely.

While the ‘keeper is keen to stay at his current club, United are reportedly intent on agreeing a new deal with different terms and a lower salary.

De Gea, 32, is among The Red Devils’ highest earners at present, and it has previously been reported that the club are looking to revamp their wage structure.

During his 12 years with the club so far, De Gea has made more than 520 appearances for United, keeping more than 180 clean sheets in that time.

This term, the Spain international has played every minute of United’s Premier League campaign, keeping ten clean sheets in 24 games.
