Manchester United are reportedly lining up a sensational summer deal that would see Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo move back to Old Trafford, according to the Sunday Express.

The Portugal international left the Red Devils for Madrid in 2009, and has proved himself as one of the world’s greatest ever footballers during his time at the Bernabeu, scoring 352 goals in 335 appearances in all competitions.

However, now 31, it is thought that Zinedine Zidane could look to shake up his Real squad in the summer as they look to close the gap on Barcelona, and that Ronaldo could be one of the casualties as the Spanish giants look for a more youthful side.

Meanwhile, United look set for another big summer of transfer dealings following another below-par campaign, and would see bringing the attacker back to Manchester as a huge signal of intent, especially if Ronaldo’s Portuguese compatriot, Jose Mourinho, is appointed as the team’s new manager.
