Manchester United line-up Wales international Rabbi Matondo in case they fail to capture Jadon Sancho, according to Manchester Evening News.
Both Mantondo and Sancho share similar traits in the fact that both players left the Manchester City academy in their teenage years to secure regular senior football in Germany.
At just 19-years-old the Wales international has caught the eye in some Bundesliga appearances this season scoring one goal in 12 outings.
It would be fair to say the Schalke player is not quite at the level of Jadon Sancho, but reports suggest the Red Devils would be interested in the player if they cannot get the Sancho deal over the line.
However, chief executive Ed Woodward and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have not hidden their love for the Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho who would be their preferred choice.
