Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Denmark international goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to Don Balon.

The Premier League side, who visit relegation threatened Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday afternoon, have been linked with trying to lure the Leicester City shot stopper to Old Trafford this summer.

The 30-year-old, who has 22 international caps for his country, has kept 10 clean sheets in 29 appearances in all competitions for The Foxes so far this season.

Schmeichel, who is the son of Red Devils legend Peter, is understood to be impressing United boss Jose Mourinho, especially with David De Gea’s long-term future at The Theatre of Dreams still not certain.

The Dane is a product of Manchester City’s youth academy, but he only made 10 first-team appearances for United’s arch-rivals before 2009, and is also said to be on La Liga giants’ Real Madrid’s radar.

Schmeichel was part of Leicester’s remarkable squad who lifted the 2015-16 Premier League title back in May.
