Manchester United will hope to return to winning ways when they face struggling Ipswich Town on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils came from 2-0 to draw 2-2 against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, but Ruben Amorim’s side remain 15th in the table and are in real danger of failing to qualify for any European competition next term.

The visit of the Tractor Boys to Old Trafford will present United with a good opportunity to bounce back, but Amorim has overseen just four wins from his 15 Premier League matches in charge of the Red Devils, having guided his side to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich in his first game.

Off the pitch, though, it appears that United could be closing in on the signing of one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.

As per Business Day via GiveMeSport, United’s move to sign forward Victor Osimhen from Napoli is ‘95% complete’.

The report from the striker’s native Nigeria claims that the Manchester outfit are willing to meet the player’s £62 million release clause and are now in pole position to land the player this summer.

Osimhen could join Manchester United this summer

Osimhen, 26, is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray having failed to secure a permanent move away from Naples last summer.

Since arriving in Turkey he has netted 20 times in 25 matches across all competitions, but the report claims that he could be on his way to Old Trafford this summer.

The Nigeria international has scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli since joining the club from Lille in 2020.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte ousted the attacker from his senior squad last year, which prompted interest in the player during last summer’s transfer window.

A move never materialised, however, and Osimhen instead joined Galatasaray on loan for the remainder of the season.

United’s interest in the striker comes despite the arrivals of both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee over the past two years.
