Manchester United owners, the Glazers are urged to make final decision over Ed Woodward, according to the Daily Mirror

Woodward has not been a popular chief executive at United, especially amongst the fans. He has been praised for his business prowess with the club’s turnover soaring during his tenure.

But from a football point of view he has not been popular and many people believe the club should bring in a more football-minded person in that role.

It was announced earlier in 2021 that Woodward would be leaving his role as chief executive. The decision came in light of the failed European Super League news, that resulted in protests outside Old Trafford.

Ex Premier League goalscorer Kevin Philipps gave very strong opinions to Football Insider about rumours of that decision being reversed.

He said: “That won’t go down well with the fans.

“I’m surprised by the news, to be honest with you. You’d think the Glazers know the backlash that is going to come with it.

“This is Manchester United though so you would presume that they have clearly thought about it.

Kevin Phillips knew how to find the net in the Premier League.

“It is going to be really interesting to see how the fans react to it if it is confirmed.

“It is not too long ago that we have the European Super League issue and Ed Woodward was heavily involved. I’m sure the fans won’t have forgotten that.”
