Manchester United take on Burnley knowing that a point will take them to the top of the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won eight of their last 10 league matches in an unbeaten run which has put them in position to leapfrog rivals Liverpool before the two go head-to-head on Sunday.

With six victories and one draw from their seven away matches in the top-flight, the Red Devils will be confident heading to Turf Moor where they face a Clarets side with just four wins all season.

Solskjaer gave plenty of opportunities to fringe players in the 1-0 FA Cup win over Watford on Saturday.

Solskjaer can take United to the top of the Premier League.

However, with a place at the top of English football at stake, the Norwegian is once again expected to field his star players for this one.

So which players will the United boss select to get a vital result on Tuesday night?

Here we predict the Manchester United starting XI to take on Burnley…

Goalkeeper:

Dean Henderson has played in goal in the last two games against Man City in the League Cup and Watford in the FA Cup, but first-choice stopper David de Gear will return for this one. Despite United’s lofty league position though, the Spaniard will be aiming for just his fifth clean sheet in 17 matches.

Defenders:

Despite having performed well since returning from injury, Eric Bailly is expected to miss out in favour of Victor Lindelof, who missed the Watford win with a back injury. The Swede will take his usual place alongside captain Harry Maguire with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back. On the left-flank, Luke Shaw is expected to start despite Alex Telles impressing against Watford.

Midfielders:

In the most obvious call, star man Bruno Fernandes will return to take his place in the number 10 role after a well overdue break at the weekend. Solskjaer has a choice to make as who to play behind the Portuguese playmaker but we feel he’ll opt for the duo of Fred and Scott McTominay. This would see the likes of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek selected as substitutes.

Forwards:

Edinson Cavani returns to the squad after serving a three-game ban and could start as the central striker at Turf Moor. This means Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial – who scored the goals in a 2-0 win for United at Burnley last term – could start as the wide attackers. Dan James, Mason Greenwood will be ready to make an impact from the bench if needed.

Predicted Manchester United XI vs Burnley: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, McTominay, Fernandes; Rashford, Martial, Cavani.
