Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Brazil international forward Douglas Costa, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup final last weekend, have been linked with a mega money move for the Bayern Munich winger this summer.

The 27-year-old, who has 24 international caps for his country, scored six goals and provided 14 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions whilst on loan at Serie A champions Juventus this season.

Costa, who cost Juve an initial £7m up front to bring in on loan, as well as agreeing a £33m option to make the transfer permanent this summer, has netted 14 goals in 77 games for Munich since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk back in July 2015.

Juventus’ Douglas Costa celebrates scoring against AC Milan.

However, the report claims United are ready to splash out a whopping £79m to land the Samba star, should Juventus turn down the option to make Costa’s loan move permanent ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

But it is fully expected that the Italian giants will take up the option to sign the Brazilian this summer, after helping the club claim the Serie A title and Coppa Italia this term.

Costa has scored 60 career goals in 356 games overall for Gremio, Shakhtar, Bayern and Juventus.

If The Red Devils were to fork out £79m on Costa, the right winger would become United’s second most expensive signing in the club’s history, only behind midfielder Paul Pogba (£89m).
