Manchester United remain in the hunt for a new striker this summer.

The Red Devils haven’t yet signed a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed the club last November as a free agent.

Wout Weghorst did join United on loan from Burnley in January, but the Dutchman failed to score a single Premier League goal during the remainder of the season and has since returned to Turf Moor.

Now, though, it appears that United have tabled a swap deal offer for one of their top targets.

According to Football Insider, the Manchester outfit have offered at least three different players as part of swap deals during negotiations with Atalanta for striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The report claims that the Italian club are adamant that United must agree a cash-only deal for the player, though.

Hojlund is a target for Manchester United

Hojlund, 20, joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer and enjoyed a fine debut season in Italy.

The youngster scored ten goals in 34 matches across all competitions for the Serie A side, but his performances didn’t go unnoticed.

United have reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Danish forward, who is said to have informed his current employers of his desire to move to Old Trafford.

Hojlund made his senior debut for Denmark back in September, and has now scored six goals in as many games for his country.

It is claimed that Atalanta are demanding around £60 million for Hojund, despite the player having played fewer than 100 senior games over the course of his short career so far.

In total, the young striker has scored 27 goals in 87 matches for Atalanta, Sturm Graz and former club Copenhagen.

Last season United scored just 58 Premier League goals despite finishing third in the table – the lowest goal tally of any club in the top six.
