Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a club-record raid for Spain international star Saúl Ñíguez, according to Ok Diario.

The Premier League side, who take on in-form Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening (17:30), have been linked with a mega money move for the Atletico Madrid midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored one goal in four appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

Better known as Saúl, who joined Atletico when he was just 13 years of age back in 2008, he has netted 29 goals in 208 games overall for Diego Simeone’s side.

Spain’s Saúl Ñíguez celebrates scoring against Croatia on Tuesday night.

The report claims United are preparing a club-record £134m offer for the Spanish star, who scored against England in the UEFA Nations League last weekend.

The Red Devils could face stiff competition in the form of rivals Manchester City, Real Madrid and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain for the central midfielder’s signature.

Saúl is contracted at Atletico until June 2026, with the deal including a release clause worth £134m.
