Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their interest in England Under-21 international Jordan Pickford, according to the Chronicle.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who finished fifth in the English top-flight, despite eventually winning the 2016 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium against Crystal Palace earlier this month, are currently scouting the highly-rated Sunderland goalkeeper ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 22-year-old, who has nine international caps for the Three Lions’ Under-21 side, made three first-team appearances for the Black Cats in all competitions this term, conceding nine goals in the process.

Pickford, who has enjoyed previous loan spells at Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End, is currently in action for England in France at the Toulon tournament.

United officials are also there keeping a close eye on the shot-stopper, although the report also suggests that Premier League rivals Tottenham are also interested in the Washington-born star’s services.
