Manchester United moved a step closer to securing a place in next season’s Champions League with a 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League table, and the win over Wolves moved them four points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool.

United can confirm their place in the top four by winning two of their final three matches of the season, although they may be able to with fewer than six points depending on Liverpool’s results.

In the meantime, it appears that the Red Devils are set to renew their interest in a Serie A star.

According to L’Equipe via The Mirror, United are set to make a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Last summer, the Manchester outfit were close to signing the Frenchman but the deal ultimately fell through.

Rabiot is once again set to be the subject of interest from Manchester United

This time around, though, Rabiot will be available on a free transfer as his current contract with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the season.

It is claimed that the two sides had agreed a £15 million fee for the player, but his wage demands prompted United to pull out of the proposed deal.

Rabiot, 28, joined the Serie A side from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has since made more than 170 appearances for his current side.

Last year, following United’s failed attempt to land the France international, the Red Devils instead completed a loan move for Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

United could potentially face competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle United in their pursuit of Rabiot, though, with the report claiming that the Magpies are also interested in landing the Frenchman.

Despite Newcastle’s reported interest, the Manchester side are said to be favourites to land Rabiot as Ten Hag held positive talks with the player last summer.
