Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign by welcoming Wolves to Old Trafford on Monday evening.

The Red Devils finished third in the table last term, with manager Erik ten Hag also overseeing a Carabao Cup triumph during his first campaign in charge.

The Dutchman will be hoping to go one better this time around, although getting the better of reigning champions Manchester City may prove unattainable.

In the meantime, it appears that one of United’s midfielders is on his way out of the club after weeks of speculation.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United have agreed a deal with Turkish side Fenerbahce for midfielder Fred.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks, and it appears that he is now on his way out.

Fred is expected to depart Manchester United in the coming days

Fred, 30, joined United from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2018 and has since featured regularly for the club.

In total the Brazil international has made 213 appearances for the Manchester outfit across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists.

Last term the midfielder played 56 times, more than any other outfield player at the club.

Romano claims that a verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs, with Fred now expected to travel to Turkey in order to undergo a medical.

Personal terms are said to have been agreed, with Fred set to cut short his current contract which is due to expire next summer.

Last summer United signed both Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, and Mason Mount joined the club from Chelsea earlier this summer.

Those arrivals have undoubtedly threatened to hinder Fred’s playing time, and the Brazilian is now set to depart ahead of the upcoming season.
