Manchester United forward Memphis Depay has been criticised and dropped from the latest Holland squad for their upcoming friendlies against Wales and Germany.

The 21-year-old was seen to be the future of Dutch football following a big-money move to the Premier League this summer, but he has failed to be included in the latest announcement of names by Netherlands manager Danny Blind, who says he doesn’t “function in a team”.

The Oranje failed to qualify for Euro 2016 in the latest round of international fixtures last month, and the new Red Devil, along with former United star, Robin van Persie, have both been sacrificed.

Depay has made 15 appearances in all competitions since a £25m move from PSV Eindhoven in July, scoring four goals.
