Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

It was announced on Tuesday that the England international had penned an extension to his current deal, committing his future to the club until 2028.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be pleased with the news that Rashford, who scored 30 goals across all competitions last year, is staying put.

However, the Dutchman will be frustrated with the news that one of his fringe players is standing firm amid speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

As per Football Insider, defender Harry Maguire is demanding that the remaining two years of his current contract are paid in full if he is to depart Old Trafford this summer.

The centre-back joined United four years ago from Leicester City and was a regular during his first few seasons with the club.

His form dipped over the past 18 months, though, and last term he struggled for game time with Ten Hag usually opting to select Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez instead.

Maguire is reportedly demanding that his contract is paid in full if he is to leave Manchester United

The report claims that United are willing to allow Maguire leave for a fee of around £35 million this summer, however the player is adamant that his contract must be paid in full at a cost of around £10 million-per-year.

West Ham United are said to be one of a number of clubs interested in signing Maguire, however his £190,000-per-week wages are currently proving to be a stumbling block.

Last week Maguire was stripped of the club captaincy by Ten Hag, with midfielder Bruno Fernandes seemingly the most likely candidate to take on the armband.

Maguire made just 31 appearances across all competitions last term, including only eight Premier League starts.

Varane, Martinez, and Victor Lindelof were all ahead of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford, while left-back Luke Shaw was also used as a makeshift central defender ahead of Maguire on more than one occasion.
