New Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount made his first appearance for the club during a friendly against Leeds United on Wednesday.

The Englishman, who joined United from Chelsea earlier this month, played the first half of the game as the Red Devils cruised to a 2-0 win.

Now, it appears that one of United’s other midfielders could be on his way out of the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Brazilian midfielder Fred is expected to depart Old Trafford this summer.

The Italian journalist claims that the 30-year-old has most recently become the subject of interest from Turkish side Galatasaray, with the club making an offer to sign the player.

The Super Lig club’s bid was rejected, Romano claims, as it was below United’s valuation of the midfielder.

Fred is expected to depart Manchester United this summer

Fred joined United from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2018 and has since made 213 appearances for the club across all competitions.

Last term, the Brazil international played 56 times for the Red Devils – more than any other outfield player.

He also helped the Red Devils to lift the Carabao Cup during manager Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge – the player’s first trophy since moving to Manchester.

As well as interest from Galatasaray, Fred is also said to have attracted potential suitors in Saudi Arabia and the Premier League, with Fulham one of the clubs believed to be considering a move.

Regardless of his destination, Romano claims that Fred is expected to leave Manchester United this summer as Ten Hag oversees an overhaul of his squad.

He recently entered into the final 12 months of his current contract, and it appears that United are hoping to sell the player this summer rather than losing him for free next year.

Having already signed Mount, United have also been linked with several other players including Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
