Manchester United striker James Wilson is staying at the club for the time being after penning a new four-year deal, with an option of a further year.

The 19-year-old looked set to make a loan move to the Championship this month but after securing the England youth international’s future boss Louis van Gaal said those plans have been temporarily shelved.

The Dutchman said: “I have talked with him and we wait until December.”

Wilson has yet to feature this season, finding himself behind Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini and new signing Anthony Martial in the club’s pecking order.
