Manchester United return to action when they face Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side have endured a difficult start to the new Premier League season, and the Dutchman will be hoping to see his side improve when domestic football returns.

Since struggling to an unconvincing victory over Wolves on the opening weekend of the new campaign, United have beaten Nottingham Forest but also slumped to defeats against both Tottenham Hotspur an Arsenal.

That run of form has left United 11th in the Premier League table, but Ten Hag has also been dealing with issues off the pitch.

On Thursday, United announced that they had taken official disciplinary action against winger Jadon Sancho.

The Englishman appeared to criticise manager Ten Hag on social media after United’s 3-1 defeat against Arsenal two weeks ago, and the club have now confirmed that he will train alone until further notice.

Sancho will not be training with the rest of his United teammates

Sancho, 23, was left out of the squad for the game at The Emirates, and Ten Hag cited the player’s performances in training as the reason for his omission.

He then took to social media platform X to respond to Ten Hag’s comments, but he has since deleted the post.

Sancho joined United from german club Borussia Dortmund in 2021 having been prolific for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists in 137 games.

He hasn’t been able to recreate that form in Manchester, though, as he has scored just 12 goals in 82 matches, as well as providing six assists.

Sancho is contracted to United until the summer of 2026, but recent events have cast doubts over his future.
