Manchester United target Harry Maguire will not be on the move during the January transfer window, according to Leicester City team mate Ben Chilwell.

The Premier League club, who defeated The Foxes 2-1 on Friday night to kick start the new 2018-19 English top-flight campaign, had been constantly linked with a mega money move for the England international defender this summer.

Maguire, 25, who has 12 international caps for the Three Lions, played the full 90 minutes in Leicester’s league opener at The Theatre of Dreams.

The centre-back, who featured in every game during Gareth Southgate’s side’s 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign in Russia earlier this summer, as England finished fourth in the tournament, was linked with a whopping £80m transfer to the Red Devils during the transfer window, which closed on Thursday night.

However, United boss Jose Mourinho failed to land his top defensive transfer target before the deadline.

Following Friday night’s result, defensive team mate Chilwell, 21, insists Maguire will be a Leicester player for the entirety of the 2018-19 campaign.

He said, via the Daily Star, “It is very good to have Harry back.

“We all know what Harry is capable of, we all know how good he is.

“He could have come here today and his head could have been all over the place, but he did brilliantly.”

Chilwell continued, “He is a Leicester player, he wants to play for Leicester. He has made that clear to all of us.

“He is going to be here for the whole season.

“He is going to be good for us. We are all happy that he has stayed.”

Maguire is contracted at the King Power Stadium until June 2022, and has scored two goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Leicester following his move from Hull City last June in a deal worth up to £17m.
