Manchester United will be looking to beat Brighton and Hove Albion on Thursday in order to move a step closer to Champions League qualification.

Erik Ten Hag’s side won a crucial game on Sunday as they beat seventh-placed Aston Villa 1-0 at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have won four of their last five Premier League games and currently sit seven points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool, leaving them in a strong position to finish in the top four.

Champions League qualification would top off a superb season for The Red Devils, who have already lifted the Carabao Cup and face Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup in June.

Despite their impressive campaign so far, one concern for Ten Hag could be his side’s reliance on Marcus Rashford for attacking output.

The Englishman has scored 16 of United’s 49 league goals so far this season, whilst fellow strikers Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst have scored four and zero goals respectively.

Ten Hag has indicated that his side needs a striker in the summer and the club have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane, although a deal for the England captain could prove tricky.

Tammy Abraham has emerged as one of a few candidates to become Manchester United’s new striker in the summer.

With that in mind, it appears that the Manchester side are looking elsewhere for potential attacking targets.

According to Gazzetta.it, the club have sent scouts to watch Roma star Tammy Abraham in action.

The 25-year-old left Chelsea to join the Italian side in August 2021, following the arrival of Romelu Lukaku in London.

The Italian giants signed the forward for around £35m, and he has since impressed in the Italian capital.

Abraham netted 17 goals in 37 Serie A appearances in his first season under well-respected manager José Mourinho.

This season, Abraham has scored eight times in 32 appearances in Serie A, as well as netting once in the Europa League.

Tammy Abraham’s breakthrough at Chelsea came during the 2019/20 season when he scored 15 times, and by the time he departed Stamford Bridge he had scored 30 times in 82 games across all competitions.

Abraham helped Chelsea to win the Champions League title in 2021 and helped Roma to win the first-ever Europa Conference League title last term.

The England international is contracted to his current side until 2026, though, which could make United’s task difficult if they do decide to move for the forward.

At present, Abraham is one of a number of strikers that United are monitoring, although he could move towards the top of their shortlist if they are priced out of moves for Kane or Victor Osimhen.
