Although Edinson Cavani’s tenacious attacking style has fit perfectly at Old Trafford this season, Manchester United are still on the lookout for a permanent attacking replacement.

Anthony Martial has failed to capitalise on a strong season last year, while Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood continue to operate in the wide attacking roles.

This leaves a gap in the attack, with Cavani rumoured to be on the move again in the summer.

Thankfully for Red Devils fans, German publication Sport1 are reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva has had his £26m release clause revealed.

The 25-year-old Portugal international has scored 23 goals in 26 Bundesliga appearances this season, after departing AC Milan.

In comparison, Martial has hit only seven and only Bruno Fernandes and Rashford have reached double figures in the squad.

Andre Silva celebrates scoring an away goal against Borussia Dortmund

Earliert this month, Silva told O Jogo talk of a move to Manchester United provided him with added motivation, saying: “I’ve heard rumours, but that is it. Rumours are rumours.

‘At the end of this season, it’s something that gives me more motivation to work – it’s a sign that what I have accomplished has borne fruit, and the path has been good.”

However, Silva only managed to net two goals in 25 Serie A appearances for Milan, showing that he has work to do before he is the finished product.

He also has 16 goals in 35 appearances for Portugal, although only one of those has come since the turn of 2019.

Now 25 years old, Silva is set to line up alongside Cristiano Ronaldo for the national team during the European Championship’s, and with the finals due to be played at Wembley and Ronaldo’s well-known affection for United – could Silva get the English football fever?
