Manchester United sit top of the Premier League following their 1-0 victory at Burnley on Tuesday.

The Red Devils have put together a 11-match unbeaten league run to rise to the summit, leapfrogging Liverpool who they face on Sunday.

As well as exciting fans with their on-pith performances in the top-flight, the Old Trafford club added a new signing in teenage winger Amad Diallo earlier this month.

The 18-year-old Ivorian arrived from Atalanta and is likely to start with the club’s Under-23s.

However, United will have high hopes that he can challenge the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood Edinson Cavani, and Dan James for a place in the first-team frontline sooner rather than later.

It’s also emerged that another striker could’ve been wearing the famous red shirt.

According to Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano (via his Twitter account), the Red Devils knocked back the chance to bring in Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic.

The centre-forward earned a move to the Spanish giants after netting 27 goals for German side Frankfurt in 2018/19.

However, the 23-year-old has failed to establish himself with Los Blancos, scoring just twice in 32 appearances.

With Romano tweeting that United turned down the Serbia international months ago, it seems that they instead opted to bring in the experienced Cavani.

As the opening of Romano’s tweet claims, Jovic now looks set to return to Frankfurt on loan until the end of the season.
