Manchester United will be hoping to complete a domestic cup double when they face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils have already lifted the Carabao Cup this season and will also have the chance to deny City the chance of a treble if they are victorious at Wembley.

United boss Erik ten Hag has enjoyed a successful first season in charge at Old Trafford, having guided his side to a third-placed finish in the Premier League table, ensuring qualification for next term’s Champions League.

The likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez have all been in fine form for United, but it now appears that the club could be willing to sell one of their most important players this summer.

According to Football Insider, the Manchester outfit could be willing to sell midfielder Fred during the upcoming window.

The Brazilian has made 55 appearances across all competitions so far this term – more than any other player at the club – but the report claims that United will consider offers for him this summer.

Fred has made more appearances than any other player for United this season

Fred, 30, joined the Red Devils from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2018 and has since made more than 210 appearances for his current side.

This term, the Brazil international was primarily used as a substitute with the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen often preferred by Ten Hag, but he is undoubtedly a valuable player for the Dutchman.

Fellow Premier League side Fulham are believed to be interested in signing Fred, who was pictured talking to Cottagers boss Marco Silva after the two sides met on the final day of the season.

The player is contracted to his current side until next June, which could prompt United to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him for free next year.

In total, Fred has only missed six games for United so far this term, during all of which he was an unused substitute.

The report does claim, however, that United are in no rush to sell Fred and could therefore keep him beyond this summer.
