Manchester United are poised to complete the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, with midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction in a straight swap transfer, according to BBC Sport.

The Premier League sides, who defeated Burnley (0-1) and Crystal Palace (4-1) in the top-flight on Saturday afternoon, are expected to announce the deal early next week following medicals for the players today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday).

Forward Sanchez, 29, has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners so far this season.

Meanwhile attacking midfielder Mkhitaryan, also 29, has found the back of the net twice and registered six assists in 22 games for The Red Devils this campaign.

The report suggests Armenia international Mkhitaryan has agreed to join Premier League rivals Arsenal, as part of United’s deal to bring in Chile star Sanchez, and he will have his medical today and tomorrow. There is no fee involved in this pending transfer.

Mkhitaryan only arrived at Old Trafford back in July 2016 following his £26.3m switch from Borussia Dortmund, where he has scored 13 goals in 63 outings overall.

Furthermore, Sanchez joined Arsenal back in July 2014 after his £35m arrival from FC Barcelona, and has gone on to scored 80 goals in 166 appearances, but is out of contract at the Emirates come June 2018 and has refused to sign a new deal.
