Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Albania international defender Elseid Hysaj, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who currently sit sixth in the English top-flight standings and welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, have been linked with the Napoli full-back ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who has 26 international caps for his country and featured in all three of Albania’s group stage fixtures at this summer’s Euro 2016, has provided one assist in 13 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

The report suggests Hysaj, who started his professional career at Italian rivals Empoli, is valued at around the £25m mark.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to allow fellow defenders Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian to leave Old Trafford, with Albanian Hysaj on the ‘Special One’s’ wishlist ahead of the new year period.
