Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a move for England international defender Ben Gibson, according to the Express.

The Premier League side, who thrashed Stoke City 4-1 at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive this term, have been linked with already relegated Middlesbrough’s star defender ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 24-year-old, who received his first senior Three Lions call-up back in March under boss Gareth Southgate, has scored one goal and provided one assist in 40 appearances in all competitions for Boro so far this season.

Gibson, who is thought to be valued at around £30m, has been with the Riverside Stadium outfit since he was 12.

However, the centre-half is set for an instant top-flight return following Middlesbrough’s confirmed demotion back to the Championship this campaign, with Steve Agnew’s side sitting second-bottom in the standings.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a fan of the English defender, but could face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature.
