Premier League leaders Liverpool will face a tough test against Chelsea when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Arne Slot’s side have won six of their seven matches in the league so far this term and currently hold a one-point lead over reigning champions Manchester City and title challengers Arsenal.

The Dutchman will be pleased with the start his side have made, although the Reds do face a number of potentially tricky matches in the coming weeks.

Off the pitch, it appears that both Liverpool and City could soon have to fend off interest from America in key players.

As per Fichajes via CaughtOffside, newly-formed MLS side San Diego FC are plotting sensational moves for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

The Californian side are set to join the MLS next year – in doing so becoming the state’s fourth side in the division – and the report suggests that they are planning audacious moves for two of the Premier League’s biggest stars.

Salah is in the final year of his current contract at Liverpool

De Bruyne and Salah are both currently in the final year of their respective contracts, and it appears that the American side are hoping to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding their futures.

Both Salah, 32, and 33-year-old De Bruyne have been linked with moves away from their respective clubs over the past 18 months, with Saudi Arabia touted as a likely destination for the pair.

Salah was the subject of a £150 million offer from Pro League side Al-Ittihad last year, while De Bruyne has been heavily linked with a move to the Middle East.

The Egyptian forward has scored an incredible 217 times in 359 games for the Merseyside outfit, while Belgian midfielder De Bruyne has a combined 274 goals and assists in 388 matches for the Citizens.
