Garry Monk is confident that Leeds will complete the signing of Pontus Jansson.

According to a report in The Express a clause in his loan deal allows Leeds to buy the Swede from Torino for £3.5m now that he has made 22 appearances for the club.

Last night’s win at home to Nottingham Forest lifted Monk’s side into third place and took Jansson onto the 22 appearance mark.

The 25-year-old defender has been a key part of that success with the clean sheet against Forest the ninth in 20 matches featuring Jansson.

Monk has used the club’s limited cash sparingly to mount a serious promotion bid and expects the fee for the Torino defender to be tied up with minimum fuss.

Jansson’s form has attracted the attention of other English clubs but after two seasons in and out of the Torino team the 10 times capped defender is keen to stay on at Leeds and continue working with Monk.
