Leeds manager Gary Monk has made a big statement about his dealings in the January transfer window, having watched star striker Chris Wood come off with a hamstring injury during the 2-0 win over Jaap Stam’s Reading on Tuesday night.

Wood, who will undergo tests to asses the severity of his injury, scored his 14th goal in all competitions when he opened the scoring at Elland Road on Tuesday.

However, his loss seems to have spurred manager Gary Monk on to invest up top in the January window as the former Swansea boss looks to cement their promotion push in the second half of the season.

Speaking to Yorkshire Evening Post reporter, Phil Hay, after his side’s win, which closed the gap on the third-placed Royals, Monk said:

“[A] Striker’s one area we’re looking at, definitely.”

Leeds have already been linked with a move for Grimsby Town striker, Omar Bogle, who has already bagged an impressive 16 goals in 18 games this term.
