Man United manger Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Barcelona playmaker Ivan Rakitic to Old Trafford to offer him a starring role in his side, according to reports from Don Balon.
As per the report, the former Chelsea boss believes that the Croatia international is not used to his full potential by Barca manager Luis Enrique.
The Portuguese supposedly feels that the former Sevilla man would work well alongside world record signing Paul Pogba, where his other players have not.
The former Real Madrid manager is yet to settle on his best side and has endured a tough start to his reign in Manchester.
With Rakitic rated at around £35m, it would mean further financial backing from the board, who shelled out to bring in Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly as well as Pogba over the summer, whilst also making room for the wages of free transfer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It seems, however, that there could be funds available to Mourinho, with the Red Devils also being linked with deals to bolster their back four.
