Man United scouts were present to watch Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 win over Valencia at the weekend where, a rumoured target of Mourinho’s bagged a goal.

Antoine Griezmann, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford next summer, opened the scoring in Valencia before Kevin Gameiro doubled Diego Simeone’s side’s lead in injury time.

According to a report from Mail Online, a scout had been sent from the red half of Manchester to cast an eye over the game.

The French international, who caught the eye of many at his home European Championships this summer, has fuelled further speculation that he would be keen for a move to join up with Mourinho.

Speaking ahead of France’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the 25-year-old admitted that he has a strong friendship with Man United and France star, Paul Pogba, and that he is always interested in the Red Devils score, which he keeps an eye out for every weekend.

“We get on very well,” said the France star, “It is true that the Euros has brought us closer together still.

“Paul is a really nice guy. He is it!

“We send messages, Snapchats. He’s really a good friend. When he plays with his club, I try to look at it to see if he had a good game or not.”
