Wayne Rooney led the line for United against Southampton on Wednesday night, yet he’s unlikely to be in the starting eleven in the Europa League final next week.

And, with his future far from certain, Sunday could turn out to be his last game at Old Trafford, and thus he deserves a start in case he does indeed leave the club this summer.

The 31-year-old became the Red Devils’ all time top goal-scorer this season, eclipsing Sir Bobby Charlton’s tally of 249 with a last-gasp strike at Stoke in January, and should this be his last game at Old Trafford, he deserves the chance to receive a great send-off after 13 years in the North West.
