Man United are reportedly holding off on entering into contract negotiations for a number of first team players with just 18 months left on their current deals.

With young defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah reportedly close to signing a new four-year-deal, the Old Trafford hierarchy would usually switch their attention to tying down their other assets.

However, according to reports from the Manchester Evening News, the club are not too concerned about getting discussions underway with the likes of Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Marouane Felliani, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw.

The players are all pre-Mourinho era signings and therefore not players he chose, with the Portuguese having sold Spanish midfielder Mata to the Red Devils during his time at Chelsea.

Despite the contracts running close to expiration each player has an option to extend their deals by a year if they choose to do so.

Some of those involved, however, may consider a move away, with Luke Shaw having already been called out by his new boss over a mistake in their defeat to Watford earlier this season.
