Davie Moyes is looking at Diego Contento to solve his left-back problem.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the Sunderland boss has made an enquiry to Bordeaux about bringing the defender to the Stadium of Light on loan.

Moyes has had a miserable time of it in the transfer window with Joleon Lescott the only addition to his squad.

Patrick van Aanholt is expected to complete his £12m move to Crystal Palace in the next few days with the clock ticking down to the transfer window closing.

Talks with Everton to bring in Phil Jagielka and Brian Ovieda have amounted to nothing forcing the former Manchester United boss to widen his search for players.

Contento is in his third season with Bordeaux after joining from Bayern Munich and would be ready to step straight into the Sunderland side.

Despite the threat of relegation a four month spell at Sunderland would put the 26-year-old in the shop window for a permanent Premier League move during the summer.
