Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by west London rivals Brentford on Wednesday evening.

The result leaves The Blues seven points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, although new manager Graham Potter’s unbeaten start to his tenure remains intact.

Armando Broja was given his first start for the club during the game, although the Albania international struggled as the visitors found themselves under pressure for much of the game.

The form of Kai Havertz will also worry Potter, with the German having scored just twice in 14 games across all competitions so far this season.

Fellow striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made a late cameo on Wednesday, but was unable to add to his tally of three goals for the club so far.

Now, Chelsea are reportedly looking for another striker, and they have apparently identified a Serie A star as a possible candidate.

According to 90min, The Blues have stepped up their interest in Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has impressed scouts from Chelsea

The Nigeria international has reportedly impressed scouts from the Premier League club, who have been sent to source a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Aubameyang.

Osimhen, 23, so far has four goals in eight matches this season, and has also provided one assist.

The Nigerian striker has been linked with Chelsea previously, and it appears that his performances of late have reignited The Blues’ interest.

The player is contracted to Napoli until 2025, which means that the Italian side are under little pressure to sell him anytime soon.

Osimhen joined Napoli from French side Lille in 2020 and scored ten goals in 30 matches in his first season in Italy, before following that up with 18 goals in 32 matches last term.

German champions Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested in the player, the report says, so Chelsea may face fierce competition for his signature if they do decide to make a move for him.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Lille’s Jonathan David – who replaced Osimhen when he departed the Ligue 1 side – are thought to be other options being considered by Chelsea.
