Ralf Rangnick has enjoyed a successful, if frustrating, start to his career in England football since taking over as Manchester United’s interim manager last month.

The German oversaw victories over both Crystal Palace and Norwich City in his first two games in charge, but the Red Devils haven’t played since their trip to Carrow Road after their game against Brentford on Saturday was postponed last week.

Having had plenty of time to assess his squad and ponder potential improvements owing to Covid-19, the former RB Leipzig boss has moved fast and is reportedly already close to securing his first singing in charge of the club.

According to FourFourTwo, the club are in the advanced stages of agreeing a deal to sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

The report suggests that the Frenchman, who has impressed in Ligue 1 this season, will be confirmed as the club’s first signing of the upcoming window in the early days of January.

Kamara has started 11 of Marseille’s 18 Ligue 1 games so far this term

Kamara has established himself as a crucial part of the Marseille side in recent months, having made his league debut in 2017.

The 22-year-old has been a regular at all youth levels for his native France, and is hotly tipped to make his senior debut in the near future.

Kamara would be considered a squad addition, rather than a marquee signing, but would provide much needed competition for the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred in midfield.

Additionally, the young star would be available for a bargain £10 million, largely due to the fact that his contract is nearing expiry.

Kamara could add some much needed balance to United’s midfield, anchoring the attacking threats of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes with defensive solidity.
