New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will take his side to East Anglia to face Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Having been appointed as the Red Devils’ new head coach earlier this month, the Portuguese took charge officially this week and has now overseen his first training session.

United have endured a terrible start to the season under former manager Erik ten Hag, and 39-year-old Amorim will be desperate to begin his tenure with victory over the Tractor Boys at Portman Road on Sunday.

One position that has proven to be a particular issue for the Red Devils this term is left-back, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having missed the entirety of the campaign so far due to injury.

Despite his injury problems, GiveMeSport claims that England international Shaw is set to be given the chance to prove himself to his new head coach.

Shaw’s last game was for England during their Euro 2024 final defeat against Spain

Shaw, 29, joined United from Southampton a decade ago but has been plagued by injuries throughout his time at Old Trafford.

In total he has played 275 times for the club across all competitions, but he hasn’t featured so far this season due to injury.

Shaw has recently returned to training and is set to make his return to match action in the near future, and the report suggests that Amorim will give the Englishman ample opportunity to rediscover his finest form.

The left-back is contracted to United until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, with his current deal said to earn him £200,000-per-week.

It is claimed that Amorim requested detailed dossiers to be compiled on Shaw’s injury history and fitness, and the Portuguese has decided to attempt to help the player return to his best rather than move him on in January.
