Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek has been touted to both Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund as a potential January signing, according to reports.

The Dutchman made a £35m headline move to Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2020 but has failed to establish himself with the Red Devils.

In his debut season with the club, the now 24-year-old started just four Premier League matches and made a further 15 appearances as a substitute.

Many thought that the midfielder would be given more of an opportunity to play when Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he’s started just one match under the German which was the Champions League dead rubber against Young Boys in December.

This, according to Manchester Evening News, means Van de Beek is open to leaving United with Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle reportedly both contacted about their interest in a loan move.

Van de Beek was a star player for Ajax.

The Amersfoort-born player, who starred as Ajax won a domestic double and reached the Champions League semi-final in 2019, will determined to get more game time as he is in serious danger of missing out on the 2022 World Cup.

Former United and current Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has left him out of the last three international squads due to his lack of game time.

However, despite his lack of opportunities in Manchester, it’s reported that Rangnick is unlikely to let Van de Beek move at this time as he’s uncertain about his midfield options.
