Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a move for Jamaican international Kemar Lawrence.

Despite the Magpies’ summer signing of Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht earlier this summer, the Premier League club are also considering another defensive swoop for the New York Red Bulls left-back.

Lawrence, 22, shone at the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, helping Jamaica reach the final before losing 3-1 to eventual champions Mexico last month.

After playing 14 games in Major League Soccer last season, Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren has seen enough of Lawrence and believes the defender could become a welcome addition to his new look squad in the Premier League.
