Premier League-bound Newcastle United are looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks with the capture of West Ham shot-stopper Adrian, according to The Sun.

The 30-year-old moved to East London back in 2013 after a season at Spanish outfit Betis, and has since then played 123 times for the Hammers, 106 of which have come in the Premier League.

However, the Spaniard was in and out of Slaven Bilic’s team last term given his poor start to the campaign, which saw him make errors against West Brom and Stoke to lose his place in the side to Darren Randolph.

Adrian finished the campaign in between the sticks but it’s clear that neither keeper were overly convincing last season, and with Bilic reportedly going after Joe Hart, he might feel the same as well.

Nonetheless, recent reports suggest that Rafa Benitez is targeting a move for the West Ham shot-stopper, as the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss seeks improvements in his squad ahead of their top-flight return.

The Magpies won the Championship last term to bounce straight back to the top tier at the first time of asking, yet reinforcements will likely be needed to make sure the North East giants are competitive in the Premier League next season.

And although the £6.8 million-rated shot-stopper (as per Transfermarkt) didn’t have his best season between the Hammers sticks, he has proven in his English football career to date that he is an accomplished goalkeeper, and one that could seriously help Newcastle in their top-flight campaign next term.
