Newcastle fans react to Calum Chambers link

Signing players based on where you expect to be competing next season can often be a recipe for disaster, just ask Leeds United under former chairman Peter Ridsdale, but with Newcastle United ten points clear of the play off places at the top of the Championship it’s pretty safe to assume the Magpies will be enjoying Premier League football next season which is why it’s vital they start looking at strengthening their squad as soon as possible, which they have done according to the latest reports linking them with Arsenal’s Calum Chambers.

Newcastle face opposition from the likes of West Ham United and Everton for the defender’s signature and at £10 million he’s not exactly cheap, but a 22 year-old with Premier League experience who has impressed while on loan in the North East at Middlesbrough could be an ideal fit for Rafa Benitez and his St James’s revolution.
