Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring Netherlands international goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

The Premier League side, who slumped to rock-bottom in the table following their 6-1 humiliation at leaders Manchester City almost a fortnight ago, are on the lookout for a new shot stopper after Tim Krul was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Zoet, 24, who only earned his international debut earlier this week in the 2-1 victory in Kazakhstan during their Euro 2016 qualifier, has kept three clean sheets in 11 appearances in all competitions for Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven so far this season.

Magpies boss Steve McClaren will be focused on bringing in some quality reinforcements into his squad during the January transfer window, with Zoet poised to be a top target this New Year.

After helping PSV win the Dutch league title last season, the Netherlands ‘keeper has established himself as one of the best shot stoppers in the Eredivisie, conceding just 99 goals in 88 games overall.
