Newcastle are embraced in another battle with Brighton- this time for the signing of Tammy Abraham.

Last season the two clubs went head to head to win The Championship with a report in The Chronicle claiming that they have both offered Chelsea identical packages to take the striker on loan.

Abraham scored 26 goals for Bristol City last season with Chelsea keen to see how he fares moving up a division.

A week ago it seemed as if he was bound for Newcastle after they had agreed terms with Chelsea including a commitment to pay the players wages in full.

Brighton have now agreed a similar deal with Chelsea leaving the decision entirely upto the player who will be heading to Poland as part of England’s u-21 squad for the European Championships.

Rafa Benitez is keen to get business done early and has a number of alternative options in place if Abraham opts for Brighton.
