Newcastle United are reportedly interested in bringing back former Southampton loanee Filip Djuricic to the Premier League.

The Magpies have been long-term admirers of the Serbian international and hope the recent signing of fellow countryman Aleksandar Mitrovic will convince the midfielder to return to the English top flight on a permanent basis.

Djuricic, who has 17 international caps, failed to score in nine Premier League appearances for Southampton last season after arriving on loan from Portuguese outfit Benfica back in February.

Despite already signing Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven earlier this summer, Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren is considering making an £8m offer for the Serbian as he looks to further strengthen his squad upon his debut season at St James’ Park.
